Preparing for emergencies

Cover of Get ready for the unexpectedThe Emergency Planning Team carry out risk assessments on any potential emergency incidents in order to develop, prepare and maintain emergency planning business contingency plans, guidance documents and other related information. This is to help provide a rapid and effective response and recovery for the benefit of the communities of Calderdale and beyond.

Whilst we cannot stop emergencies from happening, you can plan ahead to reduce their effects.

The chances of your family being caught up in an emergency are low, but, just in case, every family needs to plan for what might happen in the event of an emergency such as a flood or fire. A few minutes thinking about it now could make a big difference when the unexpected happens. Prepare now !

The Emergency Planning Team have put together an extremely useful and interesting booklet. This booklet explains how to prepare your family for an emergency and how to protect yourself and home from some of the risks that may affect you.

Please find 10 minutes of your time and get your family prepared for the unexpected:
