Rubbish, waste and recycling
Composting
Calderdale residents can purchase a compost bin at a subsidised rate, with an additional offer of 'buy one get one half price'.
Household waste
The refuse and recycling scheme introduced in 2009 operates on a 2 week rota; food waste and plastic bottles are collected weekly, residual waste is collected on alternate weeks along with either paper or glass.
Recycling and household waste sites
On these pages you will find information about the disposal of rubbish, how to deal with different types of waste and how and where to recycle.
Refuse - fly-tipping
Most of us dispose of our waste using the proper and safe routes, but there are others who choose to tip their waste on other people's land and at unauthorised points throughout Calderdale. This is fly-tipping, the illegal disposal of waste on land, and Calderdale Council treats this problem very seriously.
Waste assistance scheme
Permanent help taking wheeled refuse / recycling bins to the required collection point is available to households which meet certain criteria.
