Countryside services

Site management

Approximately 274 hectares of land across 10 sites managed by the Countryside Services have been, or are about to be, designated as Local Nature Reserves (LNRs).

The top recreation sites are Ogden Water and Jerusalem Farm. Both are designated as Local Nature Reserves and provide a range of opportunities for quiet, informal, outdoor recreation.

Facilities at each site include car parking and indoor teaching and meeting rooms. Ogden also has a visitor centre and café, whilst Jerusalem Farm has camping facilities for up to 30 tents.

Other sites which Calderdale Countryside Services are responsible for include North Dean Wood, Colden Valley Woods, Norland Moor, Cromwell Bottom and Clifton Lagoons. Countryside Services are currently developing management plans for these and other sites across the district.

Site management is achieved through our own estates team and  through our voluntary ranger service. Conservation work parties are undertaken most week days and often also at weekends.
