Shibden Park

Introduction

Shibden Hall and Park are less than a mile away from Halifax town centre and represent a typical 19th century working landscape, transformed into a public park in the 1920s when it was donated to the people of Halifax.

Shibden Hall, a Grade II* listed timber framed hall, was owned by the Lister family for over 400 years, and the families that have lived there can be traced back to 1420. The hall and barn have undergone a complete restoration programme, safeguarding the unique "Shibden Experience", walking into the many rooms, which are set out as if someone has just slipped out for a moment.
