Calderdale Healthy Ageing Programme
POPPs or Partnership for Older People's Projects are funded by a Department of Health grant to test new ways of helping older people to live independently. Calderdale Council, working in partnership with older people and a number of other statutory and voluntary groups, were successful with their bid - the Calderdale Healthy Ageing Programme.
The aims of Calderdale's POPPs Programme are:
- to promote new ways of working in partnership with older people
- to deliver services that older people have identified as being important
- to improve the health, well-being and social aspects of older people's lives
- to help older people maintain their independence and dignity
- to reduce emergency hospital admissions
- to increase the number of older people supported to live independently at home.
The Calderdale Healthy Ageing Programme will receive £943,000 over two years, commencing May 2007, to carry out a range of projects to meet the needs that older people in Calderdale have identified as important to them.
