Neighbourhood schemes

Todmorden

Group of walkers The Neighbourhood Scheme in Todmorden has a strong, committed group of people who have chosed the name OAK for the Scheme, which they feel represents strength, maturity and growth. They are running a busy weekly programme of activities in and around Todmorden.

One member has stated that:

 "in the absence of the scheme, I would still exist, be alive, be as ill as I am  . . . . . but I would be very miserable".

Halifax

Table tennis playersThe Halifax Neighbourhood Scheme has well established Healthy Living Clubs and a variety of activities, which are decided upon by a group of local people, aged over 50.  Walking, table tennis, pottery and mobile phone workshops are all open to new members, along with all of the Healthy Living Clubs.

A member of one of the groups said that:

"this scheme is the best thing that has ever happened to me . . . I'm very grateful for it.  I'm very grateful that I made that phonecall".
