| Community alarm | The community alarm service provides peace of mind for people who feel at risk in their own homes. It gives you freedom to live your life independently knowing that you can obtain assistance when you need it within your own home. If you would like to know more: Contact Gateway to Care. |
| Day centres | Within Calderdale there are a number of day centres for people with disabilities and older people. This service is only available following an assessment of your needs - which is a discussion we have with you to find out how best to support you with the problems you are having. We will look at your needs and decide whether you are eligible for this service. For more information contact Gateway to Care. |
| Frozen meals service | Gateway to Care can arrange for meals to be delivered direct to you following a short telephone assessment, if you agree to pay the charges of £2.85 per meal. You will be able to choose from a number of meals on a menu and the frozen meals are delivered to your home fortnightly or monthly. The meals are then reheated in a conventional oven, microwave or steamer. Many diets are catered for, including diabetic, vegetarian, low fat, low salt, low carbohydrate, gluten free, soft diet, Asian vegetarian, Halal, Kosher and Afro Caribbean. Eligibility:If you are capable of regenerating the meal, or have someone who can undertake this task for you then you can apply. Charges:The charge for meals at present is £2.85. | Independent business | There are a number of care services in Calderdale which cover a range of needs and requirements. You can either arrange to buy these services yourself or contact Gateway to Care to ask for an assessment of your needs . |
| Occupational Therapy | Occupational Therapy helps people live more productive lives. It enables people with disabilities to carry out essential activities with the aim of maintaining or improving independent. The Occupational Therapy Service carries out assessments for people who are having difficulty with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting), mobility (climbing stairs, getting in and out of the house) or any other activities of daily living. The service is able to offer help and advice in obtaining the appropriate equipment and adaptations to help people maintain their independence. Examples of essential activities may include:

| Out of hours home care service | This service has been introduced to meet the increasing needs of service users. Specific requirements are covered under individual Care Plans drawn up with service users. For more information contact Gateway to Care. |
| Shared Lives of Calderdale | These Schemes provide flexible day services and overnight care for adults who have been assessed as being suitable to use this type of service. Ordinary people or families in the community, known as Shared Lives Carers, provide the service. They have been carefully selected, approved and trained to provide short breaks in their own homes or where possible in a service user's own home. To find out more contact Gateway to Care. |
