What will we do on a 12 week Carnegie Club?
- Take part in fun, exciting activities and games including boxercise and benchball;
- Make lots of new friends and boost confidence;
- Learn how to make healthy food choices;
- Make simple small changes for lifelong success;
- Discover other opportunities to get active and healthy in your local area.
Who can attend?
Young people aged 7 - 17 years who are overweight. At least one parent or carer must attend the Carnegie Club with you to support a healthy lifestyle change for the whole family.
Why attend?
Levels of obesity are continuing to increase in the UK and a third of children and two thirds of adults are currently overweight or obese. It is important to maintain a healthy weight as being overweight or obese can lead to an increased risk of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. Confidence and self esteem can also suffer. Carnegie Clubs provide a supporting and motivating environment to make healthy lifestyle changes for life!
Where do the clubs take place?
The clubs are running across the Calderdale area on a Saturday morning and a Saturday afternoon. The morning sessions run from 9am - 12.30pm and the afternoon sessions from 1pm - 4.30pm. Families need to attend for half a day over 12 weeks.
