The YMCA is situated in Marlborough Hall, originally opened in 1925 as the Mechanics Institute. The YMCA opened in the mid 1950s. It was re-opened in 1977 after an 18-month refit, and again in 2002. The YMCA was opened to provide shelter, education and sports pastimes.
